Executive Essentials

The Executive Essentials program provides an opportunity to orient you to the NSW public sector context and connect you with executives from across the sector.

This program is offered to every new NSW public sector senior executive.

The Executive Essentials program is designed to provide leaders in the NSW Government with:

  • key cross-sector context and content relevant to the obligations of a senior executive
  • opportunities to develop cross-sector connections and a sense of belonging
  • an inclusive and accessible experience for a highly diverse and dispersed workforce
  • experiences and content tailored to executives new to the public sector and public sector leaders recently promoted to an executive role.

The 4-month program includes:

  • Four facilitated core workshops where the full cohort gets together. They provide access to relevant and important cross-sector context and an opportunity for leaders to connect across the sector.
  • Three facilitated opt-in workshops on topic areas that are relevant to some leaders given their entry point to the role or their specific context.
  • Four Peer Collaboration Circles (PCCs) where small groups of leaders engage regularly to unpack a specific topic that is relevant across the sector.
  • ‘On demand’ resources that are relevant throughout the duration of the program and beyond. These will include links to relevant sites and sources of information available to leaders in the NSW public sector.

Eligibility

For our Executive Essentials program, eligible participants are new senior executives in Band 1, 2 and 3 (or equivalent) that are:

  • new to the NSW public sector (i.e. have joined from the private sector)
  • a new Band 1 executive (i.e. have been promoted from a non-executive role within the public sector)
  • within 12 months of their start date.

If you are acting in a senior executive role during the 4-month duration of the Executive Essentials program, you are eligible to participate.
