What is ethical behaviour?

All government sector employees – including senior executives, managers and staff – are required to act ethically in all their dealings with colleagues, clients, customers, stakeholders and the government of the day.

Behaving ethically means acting in ways that demonstrate the core values of Integrity, Trust, Service and Accountability.  These values and standards of ethical conduct are identified in legislation and policies.

The Code of Ethics and Conduct

The Code of Ethics and Conduct identifies mandatory requirements and best practice conduct for all government sector employees.

Westminster System

Ethical practices (such as acting in the public interest, and being accountable to the government of the day) are fundamental to the Westminster system of government there is the basis of government in NSW and Australia.
