Building disability confidence

As an individual, disability confidence is demonstrating you have the knowledge, skills and attitude to respond and communicate positively with people with disability.

In other words, that you're confident in knowing, saying and doing the right thing with regards to disability.

Disability confidence is important for everyone. As a colleague, you play a vital role in creating and sustaining a positive workforce where everyone can thrive.

Being disability confident means that you:

  • respond positively to difference
  • have an awareness of workplace adjustments
  • anticipate a number of your colleagues will have disability, whether or not you can see it
