Classification and Remuneration Framework
Decisions about the remuneration of individual boards and committees are guided by the Classification and Remuneration Framework for NSW Government Boards and Committees (the Framework) as announced in Premier’s Memorandum 2012-18. All boards and committees, where appointments require Cabinet approval, are covered by the Framework, except for Crown Lands Trusts. The freeze to remuneration increases as announced in Premier's Memorandum 2012-18 is still in effect.
As part of the establishment process for new entities, Ministers are to consult the Public Service Commissioner to determine the appropriate classification (and remuneration) level for both paid and unpaid boards and committees covered by the Framework. Agencies advising Ministers should use the Framework to arrive at a proposed classification and remuneration level for the entity. Associated guidelines and forms to assist agencies to use the Framework are available below.
Each group in the Framework has an individual Classification and Remuneration Recommendation Request form. Below are the downloadable Microsoft Word versions of the forms. Agencies have the option to enter information electronically using the text fields or to complete a hardcopy of the form:
Appointment standards for chairs and members of boards and committees in the NSW public sector are issued by the Public Service Commissioner pursuant to section 11(1)(g) of the Government Sector Employment Act 2013.
Note: Information about the requirements for the appointment of board members remains available on the Department of Premier and Cabinet website.
