In 2020 and 2021, the PSC partnered with DENconnect to host sector-wide events to celebrate International Day of People with Disability.
Watch the 2021 event
The 2021 event discussed the theme of 'Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world'.
At the event, the sector's Accessible Office Design framework was launched by NSW Public Service Commissioner, Kathrina Lo and Secretary, Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, Kiersten Fishburn. Kathrina led a thought-provoking discussion with a panel of sector employees on participation, accessibility, inclusion and what a post-COVID world may look like in the NSW public sector.
Watch the 2020 event
The theme for 2020 'There's more to inclusion - there's more to us' recognised the forward steps we've made, but also acknowledged there's more to be done.
The event was emceed by PSC Deputy Commissioner, Chris Lamb and attendees heard from Caroline Casey (founder, The Valuable 500), Secretary, Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, Jim Betts and Secretary, Department of Communities and Justice, Michael Coutts-Trotter.
The event was an important reminder to continue the discussion about inclusion as well as recognising disability is both visible and non-visible.
